Update:

A big new push for us is turnkey, which is where we do a product from start to finish. We work with fragrance manufactures and then we manufacture all of the packaging and fill it. Usually when you see a bottle of Est & #233;e Lauder on the shelf, the cap might have come from one person, the carton from another. It is more efficient for everyone if it is all handled by one company. We are finishing up a fragrance line for True Religion. We did everything.

Early Days/Financing:

When we started out in 2002, there weren’t many companies manufacturing in China. We started immediately producing in China and we started gobbling up all of our competitors’ jobs. Second, we brought a level of design that the industry wasn’t used to. We financed Zorbit with our own capital, about $100,000.

Big Break:

Before we started Zorbit, we owned another company called Round House that made nationwide brands like CD Projects and Glacier Gear. One of our factories from our Round House days was doing a trade show and we were hanging in the booth for them. Someone from Victoria’s Secret walked by and saw something they liked. They asked us if we could do something like this but in “this size and color.” We did some quick designs and gave them a price. The price was half of what they had budgeted. Victoria’s Secret remains one of our biggest accounts.

Secret of Success:

It isn’t a secret, it is a recipe. You have to find the right industry, surround yourself with excellent people and be super diligent. I don’t believe in special breaks; you make your own luck.
