Computer Sciences Corp. will delay its fourth quarter earnings report so that it can do some additional accounting involving taxes on transactions from earlier quarters.

This announcement comes after Monday night’s announcement of the promotion of Michael Laphen to chief executive officer, effective immediately. Laphen, 56, has been with the company since 1977 and will replace Van Honeycutt, who said he is retiring after holding the position for more than 10 years.

The company, which was scheduled to release full earnings today, said it predicted revenue of between $4 billion and $4.1 billion on earnings per share of $1.51 to $1.61, excluding costs. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial saw fourth-quarter earnings of $1.49 per share on sales of $4.08 billion.

The El Segundo-based IT firm added that it plans to reschedule the release of its results shortly. Shares in Computer Science were up 74 cents to $57.80 in afternoon trading Tuesday on the New York Stock exchange.
