Shares of Herbalife Ltd. rose slightly Wednesday, a day after the supplement and diet products maker reported its thirteenth consecutive quarter of double digit sales growth.

Herbalife reported first quarter net income of $41 million (55 cents per share), a 5 percent increase from $39 million (53 cents) for the same period a year earlier. Company officials attributed the gains to robust domestic sales, which rose 23 percent from last year. Total sales were up 11 percent to $508 million.

A 21 percent rise in the number of distributors contributed to the positive results as well, the company said.

Shares in Herbalife closed were up 62 cents to $40.62 in afternoon trading Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange.
