After 25 years at Lippin Group, a Los Angeles-based public relations firm, Pamela Golum is still learning something all the time.

She was recently promoted to president of West Coast entertainment, moving up from executive vice president, the title she held for the 13 years while representing clients such as producer Dick Wolf and NBC Universal Television Studios’ “Law & Order” series. She coordinated media coverage of Wolf, including articles in Entertainment Weekly, Forbes and the Wall Street Journal.

“Sky’s the limit when it comes to meeting new people and learning about new companies,” she said.

Working in the public relations industry means being able to have your hand in many different types of businesses and projects, she said and that provides an opportunity to grow.

Golum, who was born and raised in New York City before moving to Southern California in 1981, develops public relations campaigns for television, film and new media.

She said her formula for success in public relations is a combination of passion and a great work ethic. “You just always have to be focused,” she said “It’s very gratifying to be able to work with someone to develop a business plan that will really impact their lives.”

Golum, 50, started out as an account executive with Lippin Group in 1982 after working as a journalist for three years. She graduated with a bachelor’s in communications from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

She lives in the San Fernando Valley with her husband Robert Golum, an editor for the Los Angeles bureau of Bloomberg News; and their two daughters, Caroline, 18, and Jennifer, 17.
