Shares in Salem Communications Corp. gained nearly 5 percent on Monday after the media company announced strong revenues driven by its growing Internet and publishing businesses
Salem reported fourth quarter net income of $3.3 million (14 cents per share), about even from the $3.3 million (13 cents) the company posted for the same period a year earlier.
Revenue for the Camarillo-based Christian media company increased 11 percent to $60 million.
For the year, Salem recorded a 50 percent leap in net income to $19 million (78 cents) while revenue jumped 9 percent to $228 million in revenue. The company credited the solid earnings growth to its Internet and publishing business.
Shares in Salem closed up 43 cents, or nearly 5 8 percent, to $11.80 in trading Monday on the Nasdaq.
