Private equity firm Genstar Capital LLC said Monday it has completed its $228 million acquisition of International Aluminum Corp., which takes the Monterey Park-based manufacturer private.

International Aluminum, which reported around $280 million in sales last year, makes three different types of products: commercial doors and store fronts, residential doors and windows and extruded aluminum products. The company, founded in 1957, has 1,600 workers in 15 factories in North America.

Genstar, a middle-market private equity firm that targets industrial technology, life sciences and business services sectors, is based in San Francisco. It has more than $900 million of committed capital under management.
