MRV Communications Inc. said Thursday that it has named Guy Avidan acting chief financial officer after Kevin Rubin resigned from the position.

Rubin resigned to accept the chief financial officer position at another company, MRV said in a statement. Avidan was previously the vice president and general manager of the Chatsworth-based network equipment and services provider.

Avidan will take over immediately while Rubin will stay on until Aug. 2 to help with the transition.

Shares in MRV closed up 11 cents, or 4 percent, to close at $2.85 in trading Thursday on the Nasdaq.
