The Securities and Exchange Commission has appointed Rosalind Tyson as the acting regional director of its Los Angeles regional office.

Tyson succeeds Randall Lee, who said he wanted to return to the private sector, the SEC announced Tuesday.

The Los Angeles regional office conducts enforcement, examination, and investor assistance activities in Southern California, Arizona, Nevada, and Hawaii.

Tyson has been the associate regional director for examinations in the Los Angeles office since 1993. She joined the L.A. office as an enforcement attorney in 1982 following several years in private practice, and has previously served as acting regional director.

Tyson earned her undergrad degree from Georgetown University, her graduate degree from the University of Hawaii and her J.D. degree from Stanford Law School.
