Sherman Oaks-based Plymouth Health has completed acquisition of its first hospital property, a controversial Tenet Healthcare Corp. facility in San Diego, Tenet said Tuesday.

Pre-tax proceeds from the sale of Alvarado Hospital Medical Center, which closed Monday, are approximately $22.5 million, Tenet said, and will be used for general corporate purposes,

Dallas-based Tenet agreed last year to sell the 306-bed hospital as part of a civil settlement with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in San Diego and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to resolve allegations that physicians were being paid kickbacks to refer patients to Alvarado for treatment.

Plymouth Health is a physician-owned practice formed by brothers Pejman Salimpour and Pedram Salimpour, and is a subsidiary of Pedram Salimpour’s CareNex Health Services, a health care technology organization.
