Developers Unveil Playa Vista Complex

Two real estate firms are planning to build an office complex on 64 acres of land at Playa Vista’s eastern edge, adding a major commercial component to a Westside project that so far has yielded mostly homes, the Daily Breeze reports.

The “low-rise, garden-style” campus will be built around the historic hangar where airline mogul Howard Hughes created the Spruce Goose, at the same site DreamWorks SKG once planned to build studios.

The land at Jefferson Boulevard near Centinela Avenue is set for 2 million square feet of office space, which developers plan to build around a 9-acre park. The hangar, which is frequently used for filming, and 10 other former Hughes buildings would be preserved and upgraded under the plan.
