PC Mall Inc. said Monday that it will acquire information technology firm SARCOM Inc. for about $55 million in cash and stock.

Torrance-based PC Mall said it will pay $47.5 million in cash and about $7.5 million-worth of PC Mall stock for the Columbus, Ohio-based company, which provides information technology services and support.

PC Mall, which develops and sells computer hardware and software, said that the acquisition is a move to boost its ability to provide IT services to its customers and is a key part of its plan to grow its business by providing a wider range of services to its customers.

SARCOM had about $250 million in revenue last year, PC Mall said. SARCOM provides IT services to health care organizations, professional firms and government, education and nonprofit organizations, according to its Web site.

Pending completion of the deal, SARCOM will become a wholly owned subsidiary of PC Mall. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2007.

This announcement comes two weeks after PC Mall announced a seven-fold increase in second-quarter profit along with a 12 percent jump in revenues.

Shares in PC Mall gained 69 cents, or 6.6 percent, to $11.12 in afternoon trading Monday on the Nasdaq. Shares have gained 83 percent since September.
