Time Warner Cable said it has reached an agreement with Walt Disney Co. to distribute a handful of the media company’s major cable channels including ABC Family, Disney Channel, ESPN, ESPN HD, ESPN2, and ESPN Classic.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Stamford, Conn.-based Time Warner Cable also said it will launch ESPN2 HD and ESPNU later this year, and will also offer Disney Channel on demand, subscription video on demand and ESPN Deportes, the Spanish-language ESPN, to certain subscribers.

Three new high-definition services (ABC Family HD, Disney Channel HD and ESPNEWS HD) will launch in Time Warner Cable systems when they become available early next year, the company said.

Shares in Burbank-based Disney were down 32 cents, or 1 percent, to $34.60 in afternoon trading Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange.
