CB Richard Ellis said Tuesday that commercial real estate broker Al Gianini, 51, is leaving his post as regional manager for the Sacramento area to start his own real estate consulting firm.

Hired in 2000, Gianini will leave the influential position at the end of the month, the El Segundo-based real estate firm said. Dave Brennan will replace him.

Before coming to CB Richard Ellis, Gianini was executive director of the Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Association where he became an influential figure around the capitol and has been involved in some of the largest real estate transactions in the Sacramento region, including deals with Apple Computer Inc. and Intel Corp.

He said he is leaving the world’s largest real-estate brokerage firm mainly for personal reasons.

“I got married last year and now I have a new young family,” he said. “I really want to spend more time with them.”

Shares of CB Richard Ellis were up 29 cents to $24.90 in early trading Tuesday.
