Federated Department Stores Inc. said Friday it will sell its Bridal Group division in two separate transactions, totaling $850 million.

The largest buyer is Los Angeles-based Leonard Green & Partners, which is buying the 269-store David’s Bridal and 10-store Priscilla of Boston businesses for $750 million, Federated said.

The second buyer is Houston-based Men’s Wearhouse, and it is paying about $100 million for the 511-store After Hours Formalwear business, which includes Mr. Tux stores in New England.

Both transactions will be cash, the Cincinnati-based department store operator said, and it expects the deals to close in the first quarter of next year.

David’s Bridal and Priscilla of Boston will continue under the leadership of the Bridal Group management team following the sale while Men’s Wearhouse will integrate its operations with After Hours, Federated said.
