WPT Shares Slip Despite Profit

The WPT Enterprises reported third quarter net income of $2.7 million (12 cents per share), up substantially from a $1.6 million loss (-8 cents) from the same period a year earlier. The earnings included a $4.5 million gain on the sale of 450,000 shares in PokerTek Inc, the company said.


Revenue for the Los Angeles-based creator of the World Poker Tour TV show were up 176 percent to $5.9 million, which the company attributed to nine new episodes of the Pro Poker Tour television series being aired in the third quarter and an increase in online gaming revenues.


Shares in WPT closed down 3 cents and were at $3.70 in aftermarket trading late Thursday.
