The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles area dropped to $3.344 for the week ended May 29, about 4 cents below the previous week. The Energy Information Administration reported that L.A. prices are 93 cents higher than they were a year ago. Statewide, prices slipped almost 6 cents from the previous week. They were almost 9 cents higher than a year ago.
