L.A. Gas Gains for Fourth Week

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles area rose for the fourth consecutive week, climbing 5.4 cents to $2.716 for the week ended March 27. The week before, prices climbed 6.7 cents to $2.662.


L.A. prices are 31.9 cents higher than they were a year ago, according to the federal Energy Information Administration. Los Angeles had the highest price per gallon of the cities surveyed for the eighth week.


Statewide, prices rose 3.4 cents to $2.669 from $2.635 one week earlier, leaving them 29.3 cents higher than year-ago rates. California was the most expensive state out of those surveyed for the seventh week.


Massachusetts had the lowest-priced gas of the states surveyed, at $2.412 per gallon, and the city with the cheapest gas was Boston, even though it gained a slight 1.5 cents to $2.409 per gallon.
