Crude Oil Prices Rise on Data

Crude oil futures rose for a second day Thursday after the U.S. government reported a smaller-than-expected build in gasoline supplies at a time when refineries are boosting production to meet peak fuel demand during the summer driving season.


Light, sweet crude for August delivery rose 64 cents to $70.97 a barrel in electronic trading by afternoon in Europe on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Gasoline futures for July rose 1.6 cents to $2.0820 per gallon.
