L.A. Gas Prices Up for Second Week

With oil topping $60 a barrel, gas prices in the Los Angeles area rose for the second straight week since mid-April, according to the Energy Information Administration.


The average gallon of self-serve regular in the Los Angeles area was $2.419 for the week ended June 27, up from $2.369 the previous week. Prices edged up nearly 5 cents and are now 16 cents higher than year-ago levels.


Statewide gas prices rose 6 cents for the week to an average of $2.412 per gallon, and are about 18 cents higher than one year ago.


California still had the highest gas prices, and San Francisco outpaced L.A., seven days after Los Angeles out-priced the Bay Area for the first time in 11 weeks. San Francisco gained nearly 8 cents to $2.449.


Texas was the lowest-priced state of the areas surveyed, at $2.107 per gallon, and the city with cheapest gas was Houston, at $2.069 per gallon.
