Union Members Picket City Buildings

Hundreds of members of Los Angeles’ Engineers and Architects Assn., angry at the city government’s refusal to give them a higher wage increase, picketed entrances to city buildings today and urged other unions to honor their walkout, the Los Angeles Times reports.


Outside City Hall, members of the 7,600-person union gathered at each of the building’s four entrances early this morning. On the street between City Hall and City Hall East, more than 100 union members were holding white and blue picket signs and walking under the eye of a large contingent of Los Angeles police officers. Few workers were crossing those picket lines in the early morning and those who did were heckled by the protesters, who shouted “scab.”
