Stocks ended only slightly higher on Wednesday after bombings at three hotels in Jordan erased gains from an afternoon rally and raised investors’ fears about terrorism.


The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 6.49, or 0.1 percent, to 10,546.21. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index rose 2.06, or 0.2 percent, to 1,220.65. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 3.74, or 0.2 percent, to 2,175.81.

Shares of Jamdat Mobile Inc. rose 8.3 percent to $19.17 after the L.A.-based wireless game publisher’s third-quarter adjusted earnings matched Wall Street’s guidance. The company’s third-quarter revenue rose 113 percent to $20.2 million.


PC Mall Inc. fell 13.6 percent to $5.10 after the Torrance-based marketer of computer products reported third-quarter earnings that came in below analysts’ estimates. The company said late Tuesday that it earned 2 cents per share, way below Wall Street’s forecast of 6 cents per share.


VCA Antech Inc. lost 2.7 percent to $26.74 after the stock rating for the L.A.-based operator of animal hospitals was downgraded to “hold” from “buy” by Stanford Group. The 12-month price target was set at $26 per share.
