NBC Teams Up with DirecTV for Programs On-Demand

NBC Universal announced on Monday that viewers will be able to see shows shortly after air time on DirecTV commercial free for 99 cents.


The programming includes NBC’s cable entertainment networks: USA, Sci Fi and Bravo.


The agreement gives DirecTV primetime on-demand rights to NBC’s marquee shows “Law & Order SVU,” “Law & Order CI,” and “The Office,” as well as “Monk” and “Battlestar Galactica.” Viewers can access the shows commercial free via the new DirecTV Plus interactive digital video recorder


The DirecTV digital video recorder will be available at retailers such as Best Buy and Circuit City this month.


Officials at NBC and DirecTV said the arrangement was the first of its kind.


“The way people are consuming content is changing,” said David Zaslav, president of NBC Universal Cable.


“We will be able to take the DVR experience to new levels by offering the widest array of network primetime programming available on demand,” said Chase Carey, president and CEO of DirecTV Inc.
