appointed director Keh-Shew Lu as president and chief executive, effective June 1, as part of the company’s succession plan. Lu, a board member of Diodes since 2001, succeeds C.H. Chen, who will continue to serve as vice chairman, the Westlake Village-based chip maker said in a release. Chen, who led the company since March 2000, said the move is designed to use Lu’s experience gained from 27 years at Texas Instruments to expand into other areas of the semiconductor industry, such as analog and mixed-signal technology.

won a $2.5 million contract to produce fingerprint-identification systems for Haiti’s electoral council. The Organization of American States awarded the contract as part of its Strengthen Democracy in Haiti program, the South Pasadena-based maker of fingerprint-security technology said. The fingerprint ID system captures voters’ prints and creates a database to verify their identities and prevent duplicate registration. The system is expected to be used to enroll 4.5 million voters in Haiti’s elections this year. Under the contract, Cogent will install and maintain the equipment as well as train system operators.



– Walt Disney Co.’s

ABC television network has secured nearly$2.1 billion in advance advertising sales for its upcoming prime-time television season, a 40 percent jump over last season, boosted by hits “Desperate Housewives” and “Lost.” Including prime-time sports and specials, the network obtained $2.7 billion, up from $2.1 billion in 2004, Disney said in a release.
