– Hi-Shear Technology Corp.

, a Torrance based provider of pyrotechnic, mechanical and electronic products, received a $3.5 million contract to make analog recovery sequencers for the U.S. Department of the Navy. The devices control the sequence of events involved in ejecting pilot seats from fighter jets, from the moment the eject button is pushed to the deployment of the chute to release of the chute upon touching down. The first deliveries will begin in March 2006.



– Semtech Corp.

, a Camarillo based supplier of power-supply semiconductors, completed its acquisition of Xemics SA, a Swiss developer of chips used in wireless devices. Xemics, which will be renamed as Semtech’s Wireless and Sensing Products business unit, will continue to operate in Neuchatel, Switzerland. Semtech said the purchase will result in a one-time charge of $4 million to $5 million.
