June Durable Goods Orders Up

U.S. manufacturers got good news on Wednesday after government data showed orders for durable goods rose unexpectedly last month.


The Commerce Department said demand for long-lasting goods gained 1.4 percent in June. It also revised May’s strong reading to show a 6.4 percent jump compared with a previously reported 5.5 percent rise. Analysts had forecast a 1 percent decline in orders for big-ticket items.
