DirecTV Renews Deal to Carry Viacom Networks

DirecTV Group Inc. on Wednesday said it renewed a long-term agreement to carry Viacom Inc.-owned cable networks and television stations.


The new agreement means that DirecTV will continue to carry CBS, UPN, BET, MTV, Nickelodeon, VH1, TV Land, Comedy Central, Spike TV, CMT, Noggin, BET, MTV2, VH1 Classic, Nicktoons, MTV Espanol and Logo to DirecTV subscribers nationwide.


Included in the deal is local carriage of Viacom’s group of 40 television stations, with owned-and-operated CBS and UPN affiliates.


DirecTV will also have the rights to launch CBS’ high-definition television programming within local markets.


Financial details were not disclosed.
