The Dollar Fights Back

The dollar gained for a second day against its major rivals Tuesday.

With U.S. trading under way, the euro was at $1.3378, down from $1.3483 in late New York trading on Monday and nearly 3 cents off its all-time high of $1.3667 set last Thursday.

It also pulled away from last month’s multi-year lows against the yen, Swiss franc and British pound.

The dollar’s rise against the euro came as Germany’s Federal Labor Office reported the country’s unemployment rate rose to 10.8 percent in December from 10.3 percent the month before.
