Oil Prices Drop on Weather Forecasts

Crude futures fell Tuesday in thin post-Christmas trading after U.S. forecasts of milder weather in the week ahead raised traders’ expectations of lower demand for heating fuels.

Light sweet crude for February delivery slipped 53 cents to $57.90 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange by afternoon in Europe. On Monday, the market was closed for the Christmas holiday. Brent crude was down 50 cents at $56.19 on the ICE Futures exchange.
