Southern Union Co. on Friday said it would buy privately held Sid Richardson Energy Services Co. for $1.6 billion in cash, adding nearly 5,000 miles of natural gas pipeline to its network.
With the addition of the Sid Richardson business, which also includes natural gas processing facilities, Southern Union said it would have more than 22,000 miles of pipelines stretching from the Gulf of Mexico to the southwestern and midwestern U.S. and to Canada.
