Stocks barely budged Monday, finishing mixed as interest rate worries and a legal setback for Merck & Co. countered momentum from a possible multibillion-dollar acquisition by ConocoPhillips.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 10.81, or 0.1 percent, to 10,767.77. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index rose 1.06, or 0.1 percent, to 1,260.43. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 4.22, or 0.2 percent, to 2,260.95.

Local movers were led by J2 Global Communications Inc., which rose 3.9 percent to $46.76, and CB Richard Ellis Group Inc., which gained 3.1 percent to $54.65 On the down side, shares of K-Swiss Inc. lost 2 percent to $32.56 and Computer Sciences Corp. fell 1.2 percent to $48.92.
Shares of Public Storage Inc. fell 0.8 percent to $69.78 after the Glendale-based real estate investment trust’s stock rating was downgraded to “sell” from “hold” by analyst at Matrix USA.
3D Systems Corp. lost 4.7 percent to $17.93 after the Valencia-based 3-D printing systems manufacturer’s stock rating was cut to “market perform” from “outperform” by Piper Jaffray & Co. The price target was set at $18 per share.
