Johnson & Johnson, facing a higher rival bid for Guidant Corp., on Tuesday said it remains committed to acquiring the medical device maker but did not raise the bid price it had already negotiated with Guidant.
J & J; issued the statement a day after Boston Scientific Corp. made a surprise $25 billion offer for Guidant, topping J & J;’s recently reduced price of $21.5 billion, which had been worked out with Guidant last month.
