Business Activity Expands, Fed Beige Book Says

The pace of U.S. business activity continued to expand through early April, but price pressures from rising energy costs have intensified in some areas, the Federal Reserve said on Wednesday.


“Reports from all 12 Federal Reserve Districts indicate that business activity continued to expand from late February through early April,” the Fed’s beige book summary of economic conditions said.


The Fed said retail selling prices were stable, although there were some reports of increased prices and pricing power.
