– Impco Technologies Inc.

, a Cerritos-based alternative-fuel systems and components manufacturer, said Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer Nickolai A. Gerde resigned from the company on April 7 to pursue other opportunities. Richard T. Fogarty, the company’s corporate controller, will serve as interim principal financial officer until a search for Gerde’s replacement is completed.



– Occidental Petroleum Corp.

will sell its potassium products business in Port Edwards, Wis., to Calgary-based Superior Plus Income Fund for $29.5 million. L.A.-based Occidental’s business unit produces potassium hydroxide used in making agricultural chemicals, soaps and detergents. Superior’s ERCO Worldwide division made the purchase from Occidental Chemical’s Basic Chemicals Co. unit.



– PC Mall

, a Torrance-based technology company, completed its spin-off of eCOST.com, Inc. by distributing to its stockholders all of the 14 million shares of eCOST.com common stock that PC Mall owned. PC Mall distributed the shares of eCOST.com common stock through a special dividend on March 28. As a result of the distribution, PC Mall no longer owns any shares of eCOST.com.



– Jacobs Engineering Group Inc.

, a Pasadena-based engineering firm, announced that a subsidiary received a contract from the Florida Department of Transportation’s Turnpike Enterprise to perform construction engineering and inspection of a state turnpike. The job involves widening the road from four lanes to eight and replacing seven bridges. The value of the contract was not disclosed.



– Edison International

, the Rosemead-based holding company that owns Southern California Edison, has requested approval from the California Public Utilities Commission for a $680 million electricity transmission project that would allow it to import more power from Arizona.


The project, which would include a 230-mile electric transmission line that could come into service in 2009, would allow an additional 1,200 megawatts of electricity to be imported into California. Edison said it also needs to get approval from the federal Bureau of Land Management.



– China Digital Communication Group

, a battery components production company in China with U.S. headquarters in Los Angeles, offered guidance for its first quarter ended March 31. Net income is expected to be nearly $630,000 (1 cent per diluted share), up from a loss of $518,000 (9 cents) in the like period a year earlier. The company projects revenue of approximately $2.7 million, up 250 percent from $774,000 in the first quarter last year. China Digital cited a continued trend of sharply increasing demand and production, along with continuing cost controls.

, an L.A.-based apparel company, reported a first-quarter net loss of $818,000 (3 cents per diluted share), compared with a loss of $5 million (19 cents) for the like period a year earlier.Revenue for the quarter ended Feb. 26 rose to $23.1 million from $13 million in the comparable period of the prior year.
