Gas prices jumped nearly 13 cents a gallon last week in Los Angeles, the 13th straight week they’ve been rising, according to survey data from the federal Energy Information Administration.

The average gallon of self-serve regular in the Los Angeles area was $2.602 for the week ended April 11, up from $2.475 the previous week. L.A. gas prices are about 39 cents higher per gallon than they were just one year ago.

State gas prices climbed nearly 13 cents per gallon. The California statewide average was $2.592 per gallon for the week ended April 11, up from $ 2.464 in the prior week, and nearly 44 cents higher than one year earlier.

California remained the most expensive state in which to buy a gallon of gas, and San Francisco was the most expensive city, out-pricing Los Angeles for the second straight week. The northern California city rang in at $ 2.634 per gallon.

And for the second week in a row, L.A. motorists could take some comfort in the fact that the city recorded the lowest price gain from a year ago, of the 10 cities surveyed. Seattle had the highest price gain with a price per gallon nearly 57 cents higher than last year.
