Andrew Card, the White House chief of staff, budget director Josh Bolten and Glenn Hubbard, dean of the Columbia University Business School, are being considered for U.S. Treasury secretary, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Other candidates include former Texas Senator Phil Gramm, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Henry Paulson, Blackstone Group LP CEO Stephen Schwarzman and Gerald Parsky, a former assistant Treasury secretary, the newspaper said.

Treasury Secretary John Snow is seeking to retain the job, though President George W. Bush is considering others for the position, the newspaper said.
