Everest.simobil.si

This site chronicles an expedition where a Slovenian skier climbed up and then skied down Everest, from the summit to base camp. It’s got video and photos of him. Just the thought of climbing Everest is a scary enough thought, but to actually ski it from the top is insane. So if you ever need inspiration, go onto this site and look at this video.

Iwindsurf.com

This is a site where you can get real-time wind reports on all of the spots in Southern California, and probably the world. It reports the wind, both how hard it’s blowing right now, as well as an archive of how the wind has been blowing over the past few weeks. If you’re a wind surfer, which I am, this is all-important information. It’s also a great way to torture yourself at work. You can see what’s going on while you’re not there.

Ditto.com

This is a visual search engine. It allows you to find basically a picture of anything you’re looking for. So when I’m traveling and I want to send an e-mail to my kids, I find some clip art and attach it to the message. For instance if I’m in New York, I’ll send a clip art of the Statue of Liberty.

http://davenet.userland.com/

I view this site as enthusiast publishing at its best. This is an individual who writes a story every day about something going on in the technology software, venture capital business that interests him. He has a pretty loyal following.

Ellisislandrecords.org

This is the American Family Immigration History Center. It’s basically a place you can go and enter the name of a passenger who landed at Ellis Island. A lot of my relatives came to the U.S. via Ellis Island, and I find it interesting to track them down.

Family.com

This is a place I go to find activities I can do with my kids. Travel ideas, learning ideas, birthday parties things like that.

Adcritic.com

I love TV commercials but don’t have enough time to watch TV. There are some incredibly funny commercials on here. My personal favorite is a British commercial called “Bear Fight.” The site gives you access to basically all of the commercials on TV right now, as well as an archive of them. And it rates all of these commercials based on popularity.

The order in which the sites are listed doe not necessarily reflect the subject’s prefeences or frequency of use.
