Residential Brokers

Two awards were handed out to residential brokers for the highest sales volume in dollars in 1997, and for selling the most units last year.

Both winners have one thing in common: long hours. Ron de Salvo of Coldwell Banker Jon Douglas racked up $91 million in home sales partially by being “the guy who locks up at night, after I leave,” in the words of his assistant.

De Salvo deals in multimillion-dollar mansions, but the largest unit seller, Leo Nordine of one-man brokerage Nordine Realtors, deals in the other end of the spectrum: mainly low-end homes in South Central Los Angeles. But he sells a lot of them 312 last year.
