NON-PROFIT HMO ANNOUNCES UNIQUE RELATIONSHIP

WITH USC AFFILIATES

Pomona,Following a series of negotiations, Pomona-based non-profit health maintenance organization, Inter Valley Health Plan has launched a unique benefit program in conjunction with USC’s University Affiliates Integrated Practice Association. The program cements a two-way relationship between Inter Valley and the Affiliates which provides flexible HMO health benefits to employees of the Affiliate physician offices while establishing the Affiliate doctors as contracted providers for Inter Valley’s network.

Employees of the 1200-office network of University Affiliates have been enrolling with Inter Valley this month, and the response has been highly positive. “It’s not every day that doctor’s office employees get the opportunity to enhance their health benefits and the benefits of their families while signing up to receive care directly from the physicians they work with,” said a representative from Douglas Roberts Insurance Agency, the Westlake Village brokerage firm that worked with Inter Valley and the IPA on the deal. “This is a truly special arrangement, ideally suited to the Affiliate physicians. They are receiving better benefits for their employees while simultaneously becoming the contracted providers of those benefits.

“We’re pleased with the new scenario we’ve created with the USC Affiliates,” said Rick Swanson, Inter Valley’s vice president of commercial sales and marketing. “Not only do we add a prestigious selection of primary care physicians which will now be available to all Inter Valley members, we also gain a substantial group of valued members. We’re looking forward to a long, successful and mutually beneficial relationship.”

Sam Romeo, M.D. of the University Affiliates IPA is equally enthused. “A tremendous amount of thought and research went into developing this benefit program through Inter Valley,” he said. “We explored several other options, but found Inter Valley to be the best match. At University Affiliates IPA, we share a similar culture to Inter Valley. We are both non-profit organizations, and we both place patients before the bottom line. Inter Valley strives to preserve the doctor/patient relationship, which is consistent with our mission. As a physician, I’ll be glad to consider myself an Inter Valley Health Plan provider, and I’m pleased that my own employees will be receiving the high quality of care that University Affiliate patients expect.”

The relationship formally goes into affect September 1st. For more information, please contact Inter Valley Health Plan at 909-623-6333.
