Promenade at Downey Adds Stores

The Promenade at Downey, an outdoor shopping center near Lakewood Boulevard and the 105 Freeway, has added seven new businesses to its tenant mix.

Guacamaya Oasis, Xecora Gastronomia Urbana, Zen Med Spa, Fire Wings, Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream, Crumbl Cookies and Daiso are opening or already open at the center.

The Downey shopping area is owned by Dallas-based Northwood Retail.
Mark Senstad, general manager of Promenade at Downey, said he was thrilled to welcome the new businesses to the community.

“Downey is such a dynamic area, and we feel these additions will further complement the uniqueness of the city, serving locals and visitors alike,” Senstad said in a statement.
Guacamaya Oasis serves 100% plant-based Mexican cuisine. It uses fresh ingredients free of all preservatives, additives, and artificial modifications to create traditional Mexican favorites with a spin for the vegan community, according to a release from the promenade.

Xecora Gastronomia Urbana is an interpretation of gastronomy, mixology and mythology. Located across from the Cinemark Theatres, the menu includes a mix of seafood and meat-based appetizers and entrees, as well as tacos, salads, vegetarian options and dessert, the release said. Xecora also has locations in North Hollywood and El Monte.

Zen Med Spa offers modern aesthetic procedures in a stimulating and relaxing environment. Using state-of-the-art technologies by certified professionals, the spa’s services include laser hair removal, micro-needling, HydraFacial, Botox and more, according to the release.

Crumbl Cookies, based in Lindon, Utah, is a franchise bakery specializing in large cookies. Since launching in 2017, Crumbl has expanded to about 478 locations in 45 states. The brand focuses on developing unique and delicious cookies inspired by popular flavors, foods and desserts.

Daiso, based in Higashihiroshima, Japan, is a popular discount store known for selling collectibles, home goods, beauty supplies, cosmetics, plushies and more. Many items are priced below five dollars, including well-known brands such as Sanrio, Disney and more, according to the release.

Fire Wings, with 20 sauce flavors to accompany its top menu item, chicken wings, is expected to open this fall. The restaurant also serves a variety of chicken sandwiches, salads, tenders, fries, beer on tap and a host of sides to pair with the meal. Online ordering is available for carry-out, the release said.

Fire Wings also has a location in Chatsworth.Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream, based in Canfield, Ohio, will also open this fall. The company makes fresh ice cream from scratch, onsite every day. The shop plans to have 48 flavors to choose from including vegan and non-dairy options. With locations all over the country, Handel’s has been operating since 1945 using only the best ingredients available, according to the release.
Handel’s has locations throughout Los Angeles County.
