Several newsroom management changes have been announced by Los Angeles Business Journal Editor Mark Lacter.

John Corrigan has been promoted to managing editor and Michael Stremfel has been promoted to deputy managing editor. Both had held the title of assistant managing editor. In addition, staff reporter Dan Turner has been named news editor.

As part of the restructuring, Corrigan, 40, will report directly to Lacter and oversee newsroom operations, including the supervision of personnel and story development and processing. He will handle similar duties for the San Fernando Valley Business Journal.

Stremfel, 41, will also focus on newsroom operations, including development and editing of stories, and training and supervision of reporters.

“John and Mike have been a critical component of the Business Journal’s editorial success over the past year. Their hard work and dedication on many weeks logging enormous hours reflect their commitment to making this the best regional business publication in the country,” said Lacter.

Corrigan came to the Business Journal last September from the Los Angeles Daily News, where he held a variety of newsroom posts, including city editor, editorial page writer, reporter and political editor.

Stremfel has been at the Business Journal for 10 years. In that period, he has covered real estate, energy, entertainment and international trade, in addition to supervisory duties as assistant managing editor.

In the newly created position of news editor, Turner will be responsible for the processing of news copy and other production duties, in addition to overseeing the paper’s entertainment and marketing/advertising coverage.

Turner will continue writing his marketing column through the summer and is working on another possible weekly column for the fall. His news editor post is effective June 30.
