The real story on reform

I read with great interest John H. Sullivan’s guest opinion on California tort reform (“California tort reform is overdue,” Jan. 27). It should be labeled a piece of fiction. Lawsuits in this state are down substantially over the past 10 years. Insurance company requirements to handle claims fairly and not in bad faith have been severely limited by the California Supreme Court. Wrongful termination suits have also been severely limited by the same court. Uninsured drivers who are fault free are without recourse for compensation for their injuries. This is the reality. The next thing you know Mr. Sullivan will tell us that cigarette smoking does not cause cancer.
